KEY Engineering, Inc., is a full service, multi-discipled consulting engineering and design company seeking a Mechanical Designer to become an integral part of our team! You will assist the Project Team by executing design practices, detail drawings to scale using proper standards, correcting and revising drawings as directed, along with other technical duties. This position will require the ability to show dimensions, material specifications and additional information to complete drawings. Requires sufficient professional experience to assure competence as a Mechanical Designer. This position is performed with limited supervision and checked by engineer. 

Responsibilities:

• Coordinates and manages design projects, independently, within discipline

• Detail drawings to scale using proper dimensions, symbols and specifications complete drawings per specific standards and requirements

• Corrects and revises drawings as directed

• Capable of walking down and identifying common pieces of equipment and their function

• Performs tasks independently with supervision available to handle difficult problems

• Generates bill of materials within discipline

• Specifies materials and develops drawings that are well organized with proper amount of detail

• Coordinates multiple sheet projects with appropriate sheet, section and detail reference

• Able to estimate CAD and field time for various tasks within discipline

• Capable of performing design within discipline and checking designs for appropriate standards and regulations

• Requires client contact, business development and marketing

• Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• AS in Design field of study or CAD certification with minimum 5 years’ experience in industrial/manufacturing environments

• Have a working knowledge of AutoCAD (current vs. earlier versions)

• Possess related experience in mechanical design including field verification, design and drafting of piping and instrumentation diagrams, piping isometrics, piping plan and elevations, equipment layouts, ventilation layout and details, redlines and markups

• Possess ability to read and understand P&ID’s, modify existing piping isometric diagrams, create new piping isometric diagrams, route new piping, reroute existing pipe, and be familiar with all types of industrial process equipment 

• Additional related experience in structural platforms, pipe racks, concrete structures and storm drains a plus, but not required

• Analytical ability to determine solutions for moderately complex problems

• Possess ability to organize and manage multiple priorities

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Dependable team player with excellent interpersonal skills
